Info on artist:

Participation in the visual arts is driven by an endless pursuit to reflect and reveal the world we share. My work as a painter seeks to represent the dynamics of that world, largely without the use of representation as a visual device. Meaning is generated in and through a performative process of painting, opening up possibilities for a world of conflict, change, and transmutation that abandons didactic pursuits in favor of interaction and introspection. My images and methodologies reflect our collective, yet contradictory impulses and inclinations – indulgence, and denial, obscurity and Revelation, the carnal and the cognitive. A celebration of complexity, they seek to present a world that is physically provocative, unapologetically poetic and undeniably beautiful, while utilizing abstract form as a metaphor for personal, social and political struggle. Bio Paul was born in Milwaukee. He earned his BFA from Florida State and his MFA in painting from the Univeristy of South Florida. He lives in Florida. Complementing his work as an artist is his work as an arts educator. He was Dean of the Armory Art Center School of Art in West Palm Beach, on the faculty of the Palm Beach Community College, and was the Director of the Palm Beach Cultural Council's Art in Public Places program.
