Custom Industrial Chicago Waterworks Sprocket Pub Table

This table continues our tradition of transforming interesting industrial artifacts into distinctive, yet fully functional pieces. The base of this table is actually a massive, cast-steel, 34" sprocket sourced from the Chicago Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (the same organization that famously reversed the flow of the Calumet River). The Sprocket itself is a stout 180 lbs, and as a result, has been painted green and mounted on steel caster-wheels to make the whole table easily movable. The top is solid 2" thick Pine with an applied basket-weave, parquet treatment made from 3/4" hardwood planks sourced from 80 year old cigar factory pallets. Eighty years of transporting tobacco leaves has given the wood a gorgeous red tint that compliments the rugged base perfectly. This striking table would work great in a bar, bistro or restaurant but would be equally at home as a unique kitchen/dining table.
